Pass The Syrup – FBC Celebrates National Pancake Day!

On Fat Tuesday many people around the world go through a period of self-reflection and observe what areas in their lives they need to amend to help grow and become a better person. On this day it is customary to eat richer and fattier foods.

In 2006 IHOP took hold of this day known as “Shrove Tuesday”, and decided to make it National Pancake Day. Giving much of its proceeds to charity, such as the Children’s Miracle Network, this day is widely celebrated since we all love the gooey and “bready” deliciousness of the pancake! So at FBC we have concocted a one of a kind pancake recipe that will surely bring out the fat kid in all of us.

Vanilla Gaspar’s Porter Pancakes

1 cup unbleached unbromated all-purpose flour

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp baking powder

1 egg plus 1 additional yolk

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup Gaspar’s Porter

In a bowl mix together the cinnamon, brown sugar, flour and baking powder

In a small bowl mix the egg, additional yolk and vanilla

Then make a small hole in the dry ingredients, pour in the beer and yolk mixture slowly and stir to combine.

Heat skillet and add organic salt free butter, pour the batter and flip when you see the tiny bubbles.
