FBC and Publix Aprons Cooking School Pair Up! Florida Style…

As craft beer keeps flexing its muscles, by transcending from a niche trend found only in small bottle shops or restaurants, to now found nation wide in almost all of your local markets. What better way to celebrate this then to team up with one of Florida’s oldest and local supermarkets, Publix.

Publix markets have been progressing for years by catering to the masses. A great example of this, is  their newly introduced Greenwise stores and sections, that promote local, sustainable and organic foods. As craft beer has been growing exponentially over the past few years, and not to be left in the dust, Publix has recently gotten on board and  fully embraced the craft beer world. By adding larger sections of delicious craft to there coolers and warm shelves, they have turned around from there once stale beer aisles of major brand domestics and imports to slowly becoming the leading major supermarket for craft.
At the Florida Beer Company we also strive to support local and get our brands out to all of our loyal patrons. This fall we are teaming up with Publix Aprons Cooking Schools and bringing beer pairings right to you. Now one  does not  have to be a Cicerone or a Cordon Bleu Chef to become a beer and food pairings expert. Our trained staff have been working tirelessly to come up with a menu that represents Florida at it’s finest, by incorporating Fresh From Florida Cuisine with our locally brewed goodness.

We will be attending each class, giving a full history of the Florida Beer Company, talking about our brands and why and how the pair with the delicious food at hand. You will learn how to make some amazing dishes while learning that cooking with beer is easy as apple pie.

Conchtoberfest has arrived just in time for the start of this years many Oktoberfest celebrations across Florida! Prost! So what better way  to celebrate then with Florida’s finest German style Marzen paired with traditional German fare. Here are a few pairing suggestions from the FBC crew that will surely blow your lederhosen away and make every other food pairing seem, Kaput!

Lemon Schnitzel Poppers

Ingredients

2 lb of hormone free ground pork

4 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

4 tablespoons of brown rice flour

1/2 tablespoon of salt

1 tablespoon of pepper

1/4  of lemon juice

Roll the ground pork into medium sized balls, mix the flour salt and pepper together in a bowl and coat each ball with brown rice flour mixture.

In a large skillet or wok add 4 tablespoons of EVO and turn to medium heat (watch not to burn the oil) when pan is at medium heat, place poppers in for about 3-4 minutes (turning and rotating to make sure they are fully cooked or until juices run clear) Remove  and place to the side while adding the 1/4 of lemon juice.

Return poppers to the skillet for about 3 minutes or until they are a nice golden brown (Once heated through they will expand as well)

Place on plate and garnish with a some kraut and spicy mustard and enjoy!

The “White Tomato” Salad

4 Medium Sized Tomatoes

1/2 table spoon of salt

1/2 table spoon of pepper

1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 oz of crumbled Weisslackerkäse cheese

3 tablespoons of chopped red onions

Place EVO, salt and pepper into a medium size mixing bowl, slice the tomatoes into thick chuncks (or diced* based on preference)

Mix in onion and Weisslackerkäse Cheese, mix all ingredients thoroughly together and chill for one hour before serving.
